Hi-Acts is Germany’s central innovation platform for accelerator-based technologies and particle accelerators. Initiated by five leading Helmholtz Centers – Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY), Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, Helmholtz Centre Berlin (HZB), and the Helmholtz Centre Hereon — Hi-Acts connects research, industry, and medicine to accelerate technological development and foster technology transfer into practical applications.
Our goal: to unlock the potential of particle accelerators and accelerator-based processes for industrial and medical applications — efficiently, practically, and with a forward-looking approach. Together, we make the most of existing accelerator infrastructures while developing new, tailored solutions that benefit both industry and society. These include, for example:
· Compact particle accelerators for laboratory-scale applications
· New accelerator-based technologies for radiotheranostics and drug development
· Precision quality control in industrial settings through accelerator-based inspection
· Advanced cancer therapies, such as proton therapy
Hi-Acts enables projects that individual companies would be unable to realize on their own — whether due to entrepreneurial risk, the need for pre-competitive development, or technical complexity.
Through our central gateway, Hi-Acts Connect, we provide fast access to:
· Advanced research infrastructure (especially particle accelerators)
· Expert and personalized consulting
· Suitable project partners from science and industry
· Funding opportunities and practical testing environments
· Specialist knowledge
Hi-Acts is the marketplace for deep tech innovation: we connect stakeholders from medical technology, materials research, energy technology, laser technology, and other sectors — in a straightforward, targeted, and solution-oriented way.
Our mission: to bring industry and science together at an early stage — maximizing the unique potential of Germany’s accelerator facilities for a more sustainable, healthier, and fairer society.
