Newcleo and Hi-Acts Explore Research Solutions at HZDR

A recent exchange between newcleo and researchers at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) showed how such connections can help explore new approaches to specific industry challenges.

On September 14, 2026, Francisco Garcia Ferrè, Davide Loiacono and Daniele De Caro from newcleo visited HZDR’s Ion Beam Center (IBC). Newcleo develops advanced nuclear energy technologies, including lead-cooled modular reactors. Against this background, one focus of the discussions was how HZDR’s capabilities could contribute to the safety of next-generation power plant technologies.

Hosted by Dr. Stefan Facsko and Dr. Robert Münch, the visit combined a tour of the IBC with discussions on specific industry needs and the technologies and capabilities available at HZDR. Dr. Cornelia Kaden, Dr. Sven Eckert and Dr. Zhiwei Hu contributed their expertise and perspectives to the exchange.
